st The Queen's Dragoon Guards (QDG) is the Cavalry Regiment of Wales and the Border Counties (Shropshire, Herefordshire and Cheshire). It is the senior Regiment of the Line in the British Army, and has a distinguished 324-year history.

The Regiment's role is to scout forward, find the enemy and then relay timely and accurate information back so they can be defeated by the main armoured formations.

QDG deployed to Afghanistan in October 2008 using the most modern vehicles, including the Mastiff and the Jackal. QDG soldiers have been employed as crewmen (commanders, gunners and drivers), snipers, forward air controllers, top gunners (using 0.50" machine guns and 40mm automatic grenade launchers), Javelin guided missile operators, HGV drivers and even quad bike riders!
